Hans Clothier

Sisters, Rachel and Morgan Colwell opened Hans Clothier in September 2022 with a mutual vision. They realized there was an opportunity to open a men’s store in the heart of Somerset County and decided to take the leap of faith to open.

From a young age, Rachel and Morgan were interested in fashion. Rachel, being a couple years older, started to work at Paradise, a Lilly Pulitzer Signature store, in Morristown NJ at 15 years old. Throughout high school she quickly learned that she wanted to pursue a career in fashion. Rachel attended Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York where she studied fashion merchandising with a concentration in business. Morgan also worked at Paradise in high school through college years and studied fashion merchandising with a concentration in fashion promotion.

After college, the sisters each worked in the fashion industry in New York City. They decided to leave their careers in the city and start their dream business of owning a store together.

Hans Clothier is named after Morgan and Rachel’s father, Eric Hans Colwell. Their father inspired them to pursue their dreams. Their whole family pitches in at the store, making it a true family owned business. The sisters make a great team, each working on different daily tasks but together creating the vision of the future of Hans Clothier.
